I have not always been an author, though I wanted to be for a long time. Born in the middle of the Twentieth Century to lower-middle-class parents, one an artist and the other a bookkeeper, reading was our family pastime. I also learned to draw, paint and sing. A bright child, I discovered a passion for spaceflight early on and exhausted the science shelves of my local library. Discovering the works of Tolkien and Lewis as well as Dungeons and Dragons at about the same time, my journey into geekdom was complete. But there was also a dark side. Fancying myself a scientist and inventor – and believing I was destined to be an astronaut – I left my artistic talents to languish while I chased my delusions. This did not work as planned.

After a number of different career changes, including: Air Force officer, professional Actor, Salesman, Engineering Draftsman and Entrepreneur, I finally decided to stop merely dreaming and write down my fantasies for others to read. This has had the unusual and helpful side-effect of clearing the collected junk out of my brain, where it was frankly causing a mess. I gratefully leave this mess for my readers to sort out.
